We can use photos showing research that has led to several specific blood substitutes in two classes -- hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) and perflourocarbons (PFCs). Some of these substitutes are nearing the end of their testing phase and may be available to hospitals soon. Others are already in use. For example, an HBOC called Hemopure is currently used in hospitals in South Africa, where the spread of HIV has threatened the blood supply. A PFC-based oxygen carrier called Oxygent is in the late stages of human trials in Europe and North America.

CMSP Daily Wantlist Update
July 15, 2009 We received the following photo request:
Photo Description: couple using a barrier method – male partner inserting foam or diaphragm etc…
"a barrier device is a diaphragm, cervical cap, femcap - something that covers the cervix."
So no condoms. Client wants photos of couple lubricating a diaphragm or one or the other partner inserting the diaphragm. I believe that the author has something in mind where the female genitals are visible, but I have not confirmed that.

CMSP Daily Wantlist Update
Need image of magnificent tree from a distance that shows its shape and size. Message is the endurance of plants to maturity. Prefer tree from Midwest (maple, oak, elm)
Introduction talks about “we owe our lives to plants”. Need images of the following:
1. Home built of wood. Could be in the process of construction with workers and piles of wood. Great if could get Habitat for Humanity building – maybe workers are wearing H for H tee shirts.
2. Clothes from cotton. Prefer blue jeans. Would like image of a crowd wearing blue jeans or maybe a cotton shirt on a clothes line.
3. Food piled up at farmer’s market or on counter, showing variety of vegetables. Tight shot. No people
4. Family or people picking fruit (apples, peaches)
5. Things made from rubber, or other plants
· Medicine from plants.
1. Pacific yew (Taxus brevifolia) used in taxol for cancers
2. Mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum)
3. Annual artemesia (Artesmia annua)
4. White willow (Salix alba)
Gene therapy for plant diseases
1. Potato effected by potato blight. Best if shows blighted potato and blighted leaf on plant
2. Ornamental nightshade (Solanum bulbocastanum) – gene from this plant can be used to cure potato blight

CMSP Daily Wantlist Update
Friday May 29, 2009
For a permanent display:
pacific yew, taxus brevifolia, which is the plant that is being used in breast cancer treatment. I need an image of the tree itself preferably with sky as a background so that the shape and height of the tree is discernible.
Any images of a potato effected by potato blight
For a cover of a novel:
Ancient artifacts relating to the Exodus out of Egypt. It can be anything like hieroglyphs, coins, woodcarvings, jewelry, other artifacts that are from that time, and possibly images of the Egyptian Pharaoh that drove the Jews to flee. Ideally we want things that are from that time period - not later depictions.
